Ladies and Gentlemen, the wonderful...Beau Garrett...

EYE:Having spent many an hour in the make-up chair do you feel actresses have a special relationship with their make-up artists?

BEAU:If you are lucky enough to spend enough time with a good make up artist, you definitely build a relationship with them in regards to what you want to accomplish. The best thing you can hope for as an actress is someone that is patient, has a gentle hand and helps you to get where you need to go with who you are playing.  You always want to be on the same page in regards to character and you need them to beable to read you if you need quiet time or a pick me up.  I had a lot of early mornings and long hours with Rosalina Da Silva on the set of Tron Legacy.  Her and her team were like family to me then. Good people and such talents.

EYE:From the sneak peeks we have caught of your up and coming movie TRON we catch you looking AMAZING is this super human futuristic getup with this fantastic white blond hair and heavy dark eyes, can you describe a little bit of the process for our readers? and how playing this super human techno beauty made you feel?

BEAU:On to the Tron make-up.  Talk about patience....The whole get up took about 5 hours. Hair, make-up and suit. A lot of tedious layering and eye liner and white concealer and double lashes and black eyebrows and a blond bleached wig and tears and bobby pins and more white concealer and white spray and white powder and loads of mascara and sparkly dust and tears and patience and so so much more. When leaving the trailer for the somewhat final time before shooting I felt like the sexiest, oddest, creepiest and yet the most strangely beautiful alien in a world of normal boring humans. The look took me over.

EYE:Your beautiful face has graced REVLON billboards all over the world, what did you learn from them and finally what do you do to feel beautiful on the inside? because its not just your shimmer that makes you glow so beautifully ;)

BEAU:I spent three years as the face of Revlon and one thing I did learn from that company is the importance of inner strength. A lot of
the money Revlon cashes in every year goes to finding a cure for breast cancer and spreading awareness for early detection. I met
countless sisters and daughters and mothers and aunts and wives that have struggled with this disease once and sometimes twice.  The pride that these women carry. The strength.  The resilience.  The beauty. I learned a lot of things about what beauty is in the time I spent supporting that company.  Sometimes the things that make us feel the sexiest aren't always in our make-up bag.  I guess that brings me to what makes me feel good on the inside....good food, hiking, running on the beach with no one around, travel, kindness, quiet, laughter, my dog. All of those things make me sparkle, oh, and my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. That too. Love you Charlotte.

BRIGHT EYED...by resident makeup artiste (drum roll please) Teddie Bergman

...Dont let them know you've been up all night.....

Ok ladies!!! Here it comes….. The forbidden secrets of under eye concealer and the “how to” on eliminating those dark spots and discolorations under the eyes while creating a bright and youthful appearance. The famous Bobbie Brow says “concealer is the secrete of the universe.” Even if you only used concealer, a little cheek and lip color you are ready to go in five minutes taking with you all the appearance of stress away and ready to rock n’ roll your way out the door.

The majority of people are taught to apply a concealer that is a shade or two lighter than your foundation color which is true, however before you do that there is one most important rule. Find a color corrector that has a peachy tone or bisque which is use to block out the darkness, blueness, and greenness under the eyes. Once you have color corrected then you can select your concealer color and gently tap onto the area to blend it into the skin. Another rule is to always apply a hydrating eye cream to help smooth the surface and the trick is to only use a little. Lastly, dust a little powder to help set the makeup and help it from creasing.

One of my favorite concealers is Eve Pearl. I used Eve Pearl cosmetics on my latest film “How to Grow” in which that I had the chance to work on the lovely and talented actress Charlotte Salt. Charlotte has a beautifully structured face, and like everyone has a touch of darkness under the eye. Using Eve’s popular “salmon concealer’s,” it glided along the lash line creating an even more brighten eye on Charlotte. The makeup is creamy in texture which makes it easy to work with, which is important because the skins under the eyes are extremely delicate and you don’t want there to be any pulling.

Checkout the transforming salmon concealers at www.evepearl.com and her book 'Plastic Surgery Without the Surgery'
The last greatest tidbit is Eve Pearl has fantastic video tutorials about makeup and industry tricks.

Health, happiness, and beauty…

Just a smooth operator...

"Pack it up, Pack it in, let me begin"......whurrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... ahhhhhhh the sound your neighbours and loved ones will grow to love, mine are still on the fence, but you know what? I don't care because nothing or nobody can take away the new love of my life: my kitchenaid 5 speed blender. People, I know what your thinking, one word 'vitamix' but seriously at 400 dollars a pop I might as well blend up my wallet with my banana.

Relived and I might add quite impressed with myself for staying clear of the bank breaking vitamix, I did a little research and bingo, 80 dollar kitchenaid 5 speed say hello to your new home, like a serial monogamist, it was time to move on, my nesspresso machine was dumped (on top on the fridge) and my new man was given prime counter space....

The inspiration for this new found past time of smoothie making madness as apposed to my usual double long cafe macchiato habit, came from reading 'Spent' newly named with a more positive spin 'Revive' (you may have read ms patrol's rave reviews on goop) the author Dc Frank Lipman is really quite the persuasive talker, well he has converted me from a coffee for breakfast kinda girl to a smoothie blending hazard.  Doc Lipman comes from the school of thought that a smoothie can contain everything you need to set you up for the day and carry you through till lunch in one easily digestible yummy drink..and he wasn't lying, he has many great recipes but I tend to get a tad carried away and end up chucking everything in I can find that I hope will have me hopping to work singing Necro's "Who's ya daddy"...so that currently includes:
  • a scoop of Vibrant Health's Green Vibrance or something similar
  • a squirt of flax seed oil (make sure its organic and cold pressed)
  • 1/4 avocado (provide nearly 20 essential nutrients, including fiber, potassium, Vitamin E, B-vitamins and folic acid)
  • a scoop of protein if you like, eg hemp, whey or a raw egg
  • I like to alternate daily between avocados and bananas for my smoothie base
  • Frozen fruit or fresh, my favorites are frozen raspberries for their cancer fighting ability and great taste
  • Homemade almond milk, which can be achieved by blending up almonds and water and then pouring through a siv
  • ice
But, without a doubt my favorite use of my blender is to make guilt free chocolate nutmilk shakes...i have one as an afternoon snack or even as dessert to satisfy my sweet tooth without having to bombard my system with sugar, dairy and caffeine...

  • 1/4 avocado
  • 1 heaped table spoon of organic raw cacao powder a mayan superfood full of magnesium, flavanols and polyphenols..don't you know!
  • homemade almond milk
  • a squirt of organic raw agave syrup
  • four ice cubes
  • sometimes if I want a real health kick I add some fresh curly kale (blend well)..the chocolate cacao taste disguises it very well!
Please trust me on this one people, you totally get into it..I've tried juicing before but lets face it cleaning that damn thing is such a ball ache, excuse the expression, but that just about sums it up for me...Oh also Dc Frank has the most amazing shoulder de-stresser involving 2 tennis balls that changed my life, so please grab a copy of the book and open your life to a more energised existence.

So as I began "Pack it up, Pack it in, let me begin ...........jumpa round, jumpa round, jump up, jump up and get down!...jump, jump, jump!!" owwwwwww!

You can find many great recipes in Dc Lipman's book or in other smoothie books, I have all my favorites books and ingredients in my online shop..USAstore        UKstore

TATTOOS FOR THE FAINT HEARTED

Ahhh Chanel, Chanel how very clever you are, you took quilted leather from the grannies and adorned the shoulders of the tres chic and now you've taken temporary tattoos from the pre-teens and well, made us all feel like we have to hide from our mothers.  Personally I was very excited, being a total wuss when comes to body art, I suddenly felt it would be ok if I felt like heading down to Floyd's to get my hair cut, on say, my imaginary biker bf's Harley...anyway ''les trompe-l'oeil de Chanel"..trick of the eye, facade, smoke and mirrors, blah blah, but at $75/50sterling I kind of want the real thing and not to blow my own trumpet but 'do I really want to be a walking advert for Chanel?' although I guess that can be said about carrying one of their beautiful totes and who wouldn't want that? But last I checked it was not ok to have branding aside from luxury leather goods (I mean think late 90s D&G tees) but then again this isn't the 90's, they're not knock off and they're Chanel swallows fer f***sakes!

Sigh..

Grazing the shelves of Sephora, like a jersey cow chewing over fresh grass, suddenly there was my answer, staring me right in the face ''Adorn" temporary tattoos by Temptu for 25 bucks for 9 design sheets containing about 5 individual designs...bingo!

Off out to Soho House LA later that night it was the perfect place to showcase my body art.
Cut to,
me sitting on my bathroom floor, running late, having screwed up 2 of my tattoo design sheets already in frustration; smudgy, patchy, faint you can imagine....but then slowly I started to get the hang and realised that trying to transfer the whole design sheets one handed was impossible, but the trick is to cut the designs out individually, then apply (had I watched the instruction video...)

Then, Volia! A pretty passable Koi tattoo!

The beautiful lighting in the Soho house garden was heaven sent for my tattoo's first outing, a few of my not so observant male friends asked 'when had I got it done?' (!?!!),  I even had a few of my girlfriends baffled for a second!
BUT be warned, icky guys suddenly had what they thought was the perfect opening line;
Sleazy Hollywood alpha male, "so baby, the koi, what does it symbolise in your life..?"
Moi, "ermmm, that i cant afford Chanel?"........

To commence this Blog or should I say 'get this party started' I would like to thankyou forward slash welcome anyone who has being searching the web long enough to find my little beauty!
So obsessions, as my current crush "Marina and the diamonds" sings "you never told me what it was that made you strong, what it was that made you weak" ...well I will tell you what makes me stronger and weak at the knees...

Lets start with my current love affair, which seems apt as my bf is out of the country, KORRES, it is a Greek line, and lets be honest its not just the yogurt and the extra virgin olive oil keeping those goddess oh so bronzed and so enviously glowy...

Gorge and Lena Korres are the smooth olive skinned founders of the company and they believe, to quote, that "Korres Natural Products sees its fundamental responsibility towards nature and the environment as an essential effort that should be done by all of us, for the protection of our planet"...I mean come on, if you aren't already in love with the idea of a fully eco-conscious range, you will be when you hear about all the nastiness they keep well away from our skin and hair..
  • We avoid using and have limited non-biodegradable ingredients, such as silicones and mineral oils.
  • We avoid the use of parabens, sulphates, propylene glycol, ethanolamines, phalates, genetically modified organisms, phalates and triclosan, all ingredients that are believed to be harmful to the body and to nature
  • We do not use ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) because it is non-biodegradable and its removal from wastewater requires special treatment.
  • All the extracts and vegetable oils we include among our ingredients have been certified as pesticide-free by quality control laboratories.
Believe the hype, my sister was recently in Europe and was lucky enough to stumble into one of their flagship stores,  but for those who aren't lucky enough to be putting our high school Spanish to the test, you can get your fix by clicking the link on my blog UK or USA to visit my virtual store filled with my favorite korres products (and more to come)...or sephora stock them as do Liberty of London.

My favorite products, ofcorse i haven't tried the whole range but i am working my way through, a tough job but someone has to do it, in no particular order..

  • quercetin-and-oak Age-Reversing Oil-Control Treatment, it is a-a-amazing my skin feels and smells beautiful and I get this instant glow, its probably one of their most expensive products at $50 dollars but well worth it, I've had mine awhile and when I go to pump I am still rewarded with a pea sized blob.
  • My skin can be very oily and I am obsessed with their thymus and sage anti-acne cleanser, its the only wash I have used that cuts through the oil and grime with out drying, and again the smell..mmmmwwwaaahhhhh!!
  • Put your hands up if you love the idea of a tinted moisturiser Oil free and silicone free tint gives medium coverage with a dewy finish and powerful sun protection, breathable, water-resistant, sweat-proof, with watermelon extract (again the smell), rich in vitamins, carbohydrates and amino acids, supports the stressed immune system of the skin, preventing premature ageing and increases the skin’s immune defences against free radical damage AND vanilla and Curcuma Longa Extracts provide essential antioxidant protection and prevent photo-aging!! phew!
  • Seriously I know I sound like I work for them (I wish I did) but I also love their mascara, its unbelievable, my lashes are so much thicker just as if I hadn't worn any mascara for days, and it doesn't rub off.....trust me.
  • I could go on all day, their bronzer is also wonderful made with monoi oil, a tropical Tahitian oil...so please open your world to the beauty of Korres, it's life changing...
All I need now is my very own modern day Eros to apply my korres Greek yogurt aftersun....sigh.
